A security audit is only worth something if it can be repeated. Two audits of the same network must reach the same result – even if they are six months apart and a different colleague carries them out. A checklist cannot do that: it depends on who works through it and how careful they are that day.
Security Audit Pro is the tool we use to audit our clients’ systems. It reads out the Windows environment, assigns each finding to a risk level, a module, a check item and an object, and at the end writes a report that still makes sense a year later. It is now in its sixteenth version – each one grew out of a real audit where something was missing.
The benefit for you is not the software itself but what you have in hand afterwards: a list sorted by urgency instead of a collection of observations.
Each finding gets one of four levels – critical, high, medium or low – and is listed with its module, check item and the affected object. That answers the first question after an audit: where do we start?
Below each finding is the technical evidence it is based on. Anyone who wants to check the details can do so; anyone who only needs the decision can skip it. In addition, you get CSV files for further processing and a PDF report that can be printed or forwarded by email.
