Time for an outside view

Signs that your IT needs proper support

None of these observations is an emergency on its own. If several apply, your business is working against its own technology.

  • Nobody knows what runs where. There is no overview of servers, licences and access credentials – when in doubt, you call whoever last touched it.
  • The colleague who knows about it isn't the IT department. It's someone from accounts who taught themselves. When they're on holiday, the business grinds to a halt.
  • The backup runs – but nobody has tested it. Whether anything can really be restored from it, you only find out the day after.
  • Devices run until they fail. There is no plan for when to replace what; every purchase comes as a surprise to the budget.
  • Incidents take longer than the work to fix them. Most of the time is spent finding out who is responsible.
  • Ask about NIS2 or the Cyber Resilience Act and there is silence. The obligations have applied since 2025 and 2026 – including for suppliers to larger customers.
  • You pay for things nobody uses any more. Licences for staff who have left, a contract for a system that was switched off.

How companies get started

Three common ways to start working with us

A single project

A server needs replacing, a phone system switching over, an office move supporting. Clearly defined, at a fixed price. Afterwards you can decide in your own time whether to do more.

Switching from your current provider

More common than you might think – and less painful than feared. We take over documentation and access credentials and work through the legacy issues one by one.

Taking the load off your in-house IT

You have someone in-house, but not for everything. We provide on-call cover, holiday cover or take on the topics there is never time for day to day.

The eleven areas

What we do for businesses in Cologne and the Rhineland

Each area has its own page with the full scope of services. Most clients start with one and add others over time.

Why a single provider

Most problems fall between areas of responsibility

Teams is stuttering – is it Microsoft, the internet line, the firewall or the network? The printer won't print – is it the driver, the share or the server? If you have a different provider for each of these areas, you spend the morning getting three companies to talk to each other.

That is exactly why we cover the seven areas ourselves. Not because everything can be sold, but because the faults lie in between. If you know the network, the servers and the phone system, you don't have to search for long.

  • One call instead of three. You describe the problem, not who is responsible for it.
  • We see the whole picture. Whoever set up your firewall also knows why the cloud application is slow.
  • No finger-pointing. There is nobody else to blame.
  • You don't pay twice. What is already being monitored doesn't need checking a second time.

Where we work

IT services in Cologne and the Rhineland – with short distances

Our office is on Robert-Perthel-Straße in Cologne-Longerich, at the same address and with the same phone number since 1992. From there we can reach Cologne, Bonn, Leverkusen, Bergisch Gladbach, Düsseldorf, Hürth, Frechen, Pulheim and Bergheim within a reasonable drive.

That isn't a marketing line; it's the reason on-site service works for us. A provider with a two-hour journey will try to solve every problem remotely first – even the ones where that isn't possible. Nobody replaces hardware remotely, and some faults only become apparent when you're standing in front of the device.

Most of our clients are small and medium-sized businesses, law and tax firms and medical practices with five to two hundred workstations. At this size, an in-house IT department is too expensive and a lone freelancer is not enough.

  • On site when needed. Remote support is faster, but not always possible.
  • The same people. You don't get someone new who doesn't know your systems every time you call.
  • Short distances for spare parts, too. What we have in stock reaches the client the same day.

Price

How much do IT services cost?

We deliberately don't quote a flat rate here. A price without knowing your environment would be a guess, and guessed prices are either corrected afterwards or padded with a safety margin from the outset. Neither helps you.

What we disclose instead is what IT service costs are made up of. Six factors determine the effort – the complexity of the environment, the scope of the contract, the guaranteed response time, the share of on-site visits, the state of the documentation and the number of business applications. Then there is the question of how it is billed: flat fee, block of hours or time and materials.

Our guide explains both and includes a comparison sheet with twelve questions that makes quotes comparable – including those from competitors.

  • Free IT review. Only after that do we produce a quote with a fixed monthly price.
  • Clearly defined scope. It states explicitly what is not included.
  • No obligation to take a complete package. Starting with one area is common.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about our IT services

How much do IT services cost?

It depends on six factors, not on a single figure: the number of workstations and servers, response time, scope of monitoring, share of on-site work, licences included and the condition of your existing systems. We have set out the factors in a guide with a comparison sheet so that you can put quotes side by side – including those from other providers.

Do you come on site?

Yes. We travel to Cologne, Bonn, Leverkusen, Bergisch Gladbach, Düsseldorf and across the Rhineland. Many things can be solved faster remotely, but nobody replaces hardware remotely.

Do we have to have everything done by you?

No. Many clients start with one area. We also tell you when an existing solution is good and shouldn't be replaced – that happens more often than is good for our revenue.

How quickly do you respond when something goes wrong?

The response time is agreed in writing and depends on what a failure costs you. A till that is down is a different matter from a faulty monitor in the accounts department.

Are you tied to particular vendors?

We are certified, but not tied. We earn nothing from recommending a particular product to you, and we regularly advise against purchases nobody needs.

How does switching from your current provider work?

First an IT review and handover of access credentials, then an orderly transition. There is no cut-off date on which everything switches over at once. Details are on the Managed IT Services page.

How can we recognise a good IT service provider?

By answers that are specific: who picks up the phone on the third call, what response time is in the contract, who owns the access credentials, is there documentation, and will it be handed over to you at the end?

We have put together the seven criteria, six warning signs and five contract points in a separate article: Choosing an IT service provider. You are explicitly welcome to use it against us, too.
